The Status Bar
The status bar runs along the bottom of the workspace on a computer. It keeps a few small facts in view without taking anything away from the page: how long the book and the document are, how large the text is, and whether your writing is saved.

Beneath the sidebar
The left part of the bar sits under the project sidebar and is as wide as it. When you resize or close the sidebar, this part follows.
The folder icon opens Project actions: Rename, Status, Export, Share or Stop sharing, Save as template when available, Archive, and Delete. Beside it is the book's word count. It counts the writing in the book itself, the same total the project overview shows. Research, Archive, and Trash are not included.
On a phone there is no status bar. The project sidebar ends in the same strip instead, with the folder icon and the book's word count, and Project actions opens in a panel from the bottom of the screen.
Beneath the editor
When a document is open, the rest of the bar holds three things. It stops at the context panel when the panel is open, since the panel runs the full height of the window.
- Text size, on the left. Choose a size between 80% and 150% to make the writing larger or smaller. Only the text in the editor changes, and the column widens with it, so each line holds about the same number of words. The size is kept on this device. You can also set it under Preferences → Readability.
- The document's word count, in the centre. It updates a moment after you pause. Select some text and it shows how much of the document the selection is, for example 86 of 2,123 words.
- Saved, on the right, or Saving... while a change is on its way. If a save does not get through, a band at the top of the workspace says so instead. The dot after it is filled when Spleen is connected and hollow when it is not, for example when you are offline.
The word counts follow what Spleen has saved, so they never run ahead of your writing on the server.
In Zen Mode the status bar is hidden along with the rest of the workspace.
